SweetSpot Tennis

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 October 2026

The short version: SweetSpot Tennis has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no accounts. Everything about your game stays on your phone. If you play online, the match server keeps your nickname, your ranking, your game coins and gear and your challenge scores - listed in full below - and you can delete them at any time.

Who we are

SweetSpot Tennis is made by an independent developer. For anything about this policy or your data, write to unrealtennis@pm.me.

What stays on your phone

Your player profile - the name you type, your coins, gear and looks, settings, Academy progress, tournaments and career seasons - is saved in the app's own storage on your device. It is never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app, or Player → Erase everything on this phone, removes it.

What the match server keeps when you play online

WhatWhy
Your nicknameSo your opponent and the ranking list can show who you are.
A scrambled copy (a hash) of a random key your phone makes the first time you play onlineSo nobody else can play under your nickname. The key itself is never stored, and it is not linked to your phone's identity, your Google account or anything else (unless you choose to keep your player with Game Center or Google Play Games - see below).
Your ranking: points, matches played, won and lost, best points, and the dates you joined, last played and were last seenThe online ranking list.
If you play the daily challenge: your nickname and your best score of the dayThe day's leaderboard. Deleted automatically after 14 days.
If you play the weekly goal: your nickname and your best score of the weekThe week's leaderboard. Deleted automatically after 4 weeks.
If you play an online tournament: your nickname, your results in it and when you last said you were ready for your matchRunning the tournament and its draw. Deleted automatically 7 days after the tournament ends.
If you allow notifications in the app: your phone's notification address (a token from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, from Apple's push service on iPhone) and the language of the gameTo tell you, while the game is closed, that someone challenges you or that your tournament match is waiting. Switch it off under Player → Notify me; it is deleted with your name.
Once you have played online: your game coins, the gear you own (rackets, outfits, shoes, bags) and a short record of the coins you earned (what for, when)So coins and gear cannot be tampered with and go with your name to a new phone. Deleted with your name.
The names of players you blockedSo they can't see you online, challenge you or notify you.
If you report a player: your nickname, theirs, the reason and the timeSo we can look into it (and, for an offensive name, take it off the tour). Kept for up to a year.
If you move to another device: a copy of your game progress (coins, gear, career, settings), for 30 minutes, in memory onlyTo hand it to your new device. It is gone once the code is used or runs out.
Only if you choose Keep your player safe in the app: a scrambled copy (a hash) of your Game Center or Google Play Games player ID, and a copy of your game progress (coins, gear, career, settings), updated after you playSo that signing in to the same account on a new phone, or after reinstalling the game, brings your player back. Switch it off under Player → Stop keeping it; both are deleted then, and with your name.

The server also counts, per day, how many players were online, how many were new and how many came back, and how many matches were played. Only these totals are kept - not who did what - and only for players who go online.

When a daily or weekly leaderboard shows how the players you follow did, the game sends their nicknames with the request; they are used to look up their scores and are not stored.

While a match is on, the server passes your moves, swings and the score between you and your opponent. That is held in memory only for the match and is not stored.

Once you have played online, the game stays connected while it is open, so that friends can challenge you: other players online see your nickname and whether you are free, looking for a match, playing a bot or in a match. This is held in memory only while you are connected and is not stored. Switch it off under Player → Show me online; if you never play online, the game never connects at all.

Game Center and Google Play Games

In the iPhone app, if you are signed in to Game Center, and in the Android app, if you are signed in to Google Play Games, the game reports the achievements you earn and your scores for its two leaderboards (your online rating and your fastest serve) to Apple or Google under that account. This goes straight from the app to Apple or Google, not through our server, and their own privacy policies apply. If you are not signed in, nothing is sent; you can sign out in your phone's settings.

If you choose Keep your player safe, the app also asks Apple or Google for a proof of which account you are signed in with and sends it to our server, which checks it with Apple (by downloading Apple's public key) or Google (by asking Google which player the proof belongs to). The server keeps only a scrambled copy of the player ID, never the ID itself, your name on that account or anything else about it. In the browser this does not exist.

Server logs

Like every website, the web server that the app connects to writes a log of each request, including the device's IP address. We use it only to keep the service running and to stop abuse (for example, too many requests from one address). These logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.

What we do not do

Permissions the app uses

Deleting your data

In the app: Player → Delete my online name and ranking. It is removed from the server at once, together with your coins and gear there, your daily and weekly challenge scores and, if you kept your player safe with Game Center or Google Play Games, the link to that account and the copy of your progress; in tournaments you are shown as "Former player". Without the app, see how to delete your data.

Children

SweetSpot Tennis is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The only thing shared with other players is the nickname you choose - pick one that does not give away your real name.

Keeping it safe

All traffic between the app and the server is encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSockets). The server is kept up to date, and only the developer can sign in to it, with a key rather than a password.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, by writing to the address above. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date at the top.
